Wolf in Night Forest

Artist Notes

The howling wolf is rendered in black-and-grey realism across the left shoulder and forearm, at 30x40 cm and two sessions. The composition integrates the animal, a pine forest and the moon into a continuous night scene that travels across two different anatomical areas. Soft gradients build the fur, mist and sky, keeping deep black only at the points of greatest contrast so the image does not get packed solid. The transition between shoulder and arm is planned so the scene stays coherent when the arm moves. The intention is an atmospheric, detailed piece where the wolf gaze and the depth of the landscape create the impression that the figure follows the viewer, without hard outlines breaking the realism.
