Artist Notes

The portrait of Christ is worked in illustrative colour on the right outer thigh, at 20x25 cm over a five-hour session. The piece combines the central figure, the crown of thorns, the blood and a halo of yellow cogs that brings an unexpected contrast. The warm palette of skin and reds is set against the green background so the silhouette separates forcefully and the read is immediate. Colour is applied saturated and in layers, aiming for a solid, expressive result rather than a soft gradient. The vertical orientation fits the thigh, letting the face sit on the largest surface and the halo integrate with the curve of the leg. The intention is a devotional yet contemporary image, charged with symbolism and carrying real chromatic presence.
