Dark Harlequin

Artist Notes

The cracked-face harlequin is conceived as a dark art composition on the outer forearm, at 20x15 cm completed in six hours. The figure concentrates tension in the fractured face, where cracks open across a mask of theatrical features. The chiaroscuro is aggressive and deliberate: skin is reserved for the highest planes while deep black wraps the hollows, so the expression reads instantly. The vertical orientation fits the shape of the forearm, letting the chin and neck dissolve toward the wrist so the piece integrates with the anatomy. The intention is a magnetic, slightly unsettling image built from clean masses and controlled transitions rather than rigid outlines.
